Our People's Song

This ritual is a roleplaying game. 

In it, we sing and create the song of a community we imagine. We do not have to sing well; we sing among our People, who will support us. 

We sing as equals - there are no masters here. The ritual guides what we can do, and how we can do it. You, dear reader, may have to guide them but you are never in charge. 

We sing as members of the community we imagine, reflecting on their past. It might be that the events are from our childhoods, or an old tale from thousands of years ago. They might be warnings or exemplars. But they are part of our song. 

We sing as the semi-supernatural singers of a godly verse. Though we sing of events in the past, we pass through the ritual to find out what happened, and how it ended. It is a recounting of a past we will remember, but do not know yet. Nothing is known until it is sung in the ritual. What is sung in the ritual becomes true. 

When we sing, we might sing in third person - “she wandered through the water” - or repeat the words our people used - “she said, ‘I wander in the water.” 

When we sing, we abide by the ritual’s goals to guide us in our song.

When we sing, we must take care of each other.
